The "DIM001 Alternative" parameter can be defined optionally in order to realize READ and WRITE processes from DIM001 elements other than the selected element in the dimension tree.

Fields of applications

Queries on alternative elements are relevant for:

• % from Total calculations
• Refer on P&L planning values in a balance sheet planning
• Refer on Top Level planning values on a bottom level
• Select a sum level element and writeback the data to the underlying bottom elements
• and many more

How to execute queries on "Alternative bottom elements"

Use the following 2 parameters to define queries on "Alternative elements" of the dimension tree (DIM001):

• data1_CELLS01_DIM001_Alternative
• data1_CELLS01_DIM001_Alternative_Attribute

Define the parameters either in a vertical or in a horicontal named range format:

Please be aware that the definitions are only active in those rows or columns with valid element names in the data1_CELLS01_DIM001_Alternative parameter. In all other cases the query will be executed on the regular DIM001 element that was selected in the dimension tree.

READ and WRITE

Please be aware that rows or colums with active data1_CELLS01_DIM001_Alternative definitions are basically READ ONLY, but write back can be activated with the "data1_Write_AlwaysOn" parameter.
