We are happy to announce the June 2019 Release which is dedicated to the new Upload function for Template Files and important improvements in the Workflow functions:
- Upload function for your Excel Template Files in the Web App
Until now, you had to distribute your Template Files manually to your collector users. We are really happy that we can deliver now the upload of your company-specific Template Files directly into your data1.io application!
After successful upload you can use the file path as well as the template name - via the new merge fields - directly in your Workflow E-Mails. This way you make sure that every collector user has access to the currently valid Template File.
Please note that the uploaded Template File is - at this stage of development - not secured. So everyone who has the download link can download the file (similar to an E-Mail: everyone who has the E-Mail also has the attachment). - New Merge-Fields for the Workflow E-Mails in the Web App
We re-designed the existing and added a lot of new merge fields in order to enrich your Workflow E-Mails with more dynamic information about your Workflow. The most important one is the download path to your currently valid Template File. This enables now to fully automatize the invitation E-Mail (which had to be sent manually until now) with the link to the Template File and some technical information how to get started with data1.io as a collector user:
Furthermore we added a bottom line to every sent Workflow E-Mail with the information from which data1.io application the E-Mail was sent and a link to the data1.io Website. This makes things more transparent for the receiving collector users and they can inform themselves about the data1.io solution. - On/Off Function for the Workflow E-Mails in the Web App
We heard that it is for many of you surprising (and intransparent) that the Workflow E-Mails are sent immediately after editing the WRITE-From date in the Workflow settings.
From now on you can configure the workflow settings in the section "4. Setup your workflow" in rest. As soon as everything is well prepared and tested you start the automatic E-Mail distribution with the new slider button section "5. Invite your users". Additionally we added the most important information concerning the currently active Workflow and a countdown when the next E-Mails will be sent automatically: - Delete Function for the Fact Table in the Web App
We heard from you that - of course - it is very important to be able to delete the test data from the fact table before launching the first real collection workflow. From now on it is possible to delete several or all records of the fact table in a bulk operation by selecting the relevant records and pressing the new Delete Button ...
... and enter the text DELETE to make sure not to delete records by mistake: - Problems solved with number formats in the Excel Web Add-In
We learned from you that - depending on the language settings in your OS - there can happen misinterpretations of the number formats entered in the Excel Template. With the June 2019 Release we could solve this tricky issue. - Further Improvements in the Excel Web Add-In and the Web App
In the Excel Web Add-In you are asked if you switch from one bottom element in the dimension tree to another bottom element if you want to writeback your data entries before executing the switch. But you were not asked if you switched to a sum element. So we changed that: now you are always asked independently of the element you double clicked.
In the Table Browser of the Web App we added a record marker to every row of the table which makes navigation more intuitive. In combination, we introduced the double click to launch the single record data entry form (instead of single click until now). Single click can now be used to mark a record for visual reasons.
