We are happy to announce the May 2019 Release which is dedicated to the implementation of the Shared Capacity, the AutoInstall-Setting in the Excel Web Add-In and to further improvements in the User Interface of the Web App:
- Shared Capacity in the Cloud Service
Until now, every data1.io application was stored as a separate physical database in the SQL Azure Service:
Now we have implemented the shared capacity what means that several applications are stored in the same physical database:
Why is this important for you as a user? Well, on the one hand the shared capacity helps us to use the SQL cloud storage more efficiently and enables us to guarantee our "20 users for free" offer also in the long run. On the other hand, the shared capacity is the technical basis for the (not yet available) dedicated capacity, which will enable corporates to run all their data1.io applications in 1 (large) physical database and setup e.g. individual security levels or APIs.
- AutoInstall-Setting in the Excel Web Add-In
We are really happy that we could solve one major obstacle for data1.io Power Users to make it as easy as possible for their Collector Users to have installed the data1.io Web Add-In on their Excel Client.
Until now, the data1.io Excel Web Add-In already started automatically on opening a data1.io Templates File when the data1.io Web Add-In was already installed. From now on, a user of a data1.io Template who has not already installed the Web Add-In will be asked via a Taskpane to install the Web Add-In. Simply clicking the button Trust this add-in will add the data1.io Web Add-In to the current Excel Client of the user:
- Column Highlighting in the Web App
We`ve heard that is not easy to see on the first sight what are the most important columns in the Table Browser - so we have implemented Column Highlighting to make orientation more intuitive:
- Column Quickinfo in the Web App
Furthermore we have implemented in the Data Entry Form Quickinfos with more detailled information about the sense and content of a specific column:
- Extended Lookup in the Web App
From now on the Lookup Results are not only shown in the Data Entry Form but also in the Table Browser of the Web App. This makes the User Experience between those two tools within the Web App more consistent and of course the tables are more easily to read:
Furthermore we have implemented a new lookup type "current items of the field itself" which helps very much to setup the Dimension Tree Levels:
- Further Improvements in the Web App
Until now int the Table Browser the Function Buttons were not shown as long as a table was empty, now we have changed that which makes it easier to refresh an empty table:
Tables with only 1 record are shown now in a transposed vertical format which makes it much easier to see all the content of the record at once without scrolling:
Furthermore we have set a default column width, which prohibits columns containing long text strings to expand to the maximum width.
Hope you like the new features, let us know what you think about it!
